Funding: International Development Association (IDA)

Goal: This project contributes to the transformation of 80,000 small and micro enterprises in Bangladesh (SMART initiative).

Approximately 7 million businesses in Bangladesh are micro-enterprises. In order to make a larger number of these businesses more environmentally friendly and climate-friendly through RECP (Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production) practices, 3,500 businesses will initially be examined, advised, and equipped with the necessary technology. The focus is on industries with the greatest environmental impact, which will also be most affected by climate change.

At the same time, employees in the client organization and its partner organizations will be trained to subsequently accompany and monitor the expansion to the target group.

Access to financing (microcredits for RECP measures) for microenterprises is the central goal of this project.

Projec duration: 2024 to 2028
